Lead
Vocalist for Sweet
Spot
is none other than Doylestown’s finest….. Joe (last name omitted for reasons
undisclosed) aka Joeman. So where
is Doylestown? Somewhere
in Pennsylvania, right
outside of Philly...home of the Philadelphia Eagles. “GO EAGLES YO!” As for influences, there is: Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Johnnie Walker...wait...wrong influences... Musically speaking, Joe is open to listening and learning from all the greats, the not-so-greats and everything in between. To mention some – CSNY, Stevie Wonder, Rush, Grateful Dead, Sir Ozzy the Prince of Darkness himself, Genesis, Sublime, U2, Kelly Clarkson (just checking to see if you are reading this) and so on and so on. Joeman started
hitting the concert scene early on at the age of 10 by seeing Genesis
which was "amazing" - but says the most memorable to date would have to be U2 back in
1987 at the legendary JFK in Philly.
Point of interest: JFK is where Live-Aid performed and to quote Joe…
“Live-Aid put that venue on the global map!” More
recently, Joe has been spotted at a NIN concert and Depeche Mode over at the St.
Pete Times forum … “Both Excellent!” This one
is for the girls...Likes: walks
on the beach, holding hands at sunset, puppies, movies that make you think.
Words of wisdom: “It is what it is!” (We are assuming this stems back to the “other” influences… ha ha ha!!) |

John "I don’t do
interviews" Joyce. As the lead
guitarist for Sweet Spot, John has little
time for interviews (as this bio will show) so we have taken the liberty of
artistic embellishment. John, like Joe, is a
Philadelphia native and, as far as the web designer is willing to admit, claims
no affection for the Eagles - so we will now make him a New England Patriots Fan!!
Go Pats!! (never trust the bassist to do the website). As a former member of Aunt Clair’s Liver and Clutch Cargo,
he has played his way up and down the East Coast, from Maryland to Vermont…
apparently taking a wrong turn somewhere and ending up in Florida?!?
Regardless of the reason, Sweet Spot
is most gratuitous for his kick-ass guitar playing.
It’s obvious his influences are many, including Jimmy Page, Jimi
Hendrix, Pete Townsend, Brian Setzer (by the way, Setzer called, he wants his
sideburns back), SRV, and Slash. His preference for equipment: Les Paul, Stratocaster & Gretsch guitars through Marshall amplification. “What more could you need?” When you witness John's intimidating command of the six string....we're confident you'll agree he doesn’t need another damn thing! |

We were just another band out of Boston… sing along kids, you know the words. Yup that’s right, Sweet Spot has a Bostonian in the mix. Bass player extraordinaire… Dave Fitz… aka “Dirty Dave”. With past participation in projects such as Persuader, Addicted and Party Shark, it’s no wonder his name is Dirty Dave (so, are those bands or support groups Dave?). Dirty Dave rocked his way through the 80’s with big hair, big attitude, and loud playing (let’s face it folks, we all know the 80’s wasn’t pretty for any of us). Any more info than that he either doesn’t remember or refuses to disclose - although they may have some of his mug shots at clubs like The Rockpile, Club III, Atlantic Lounge and Edible Rex (Edible Rex?!? Yeah, we’ll take a pass on any of those Pics...oh self proclaimed Dirty one). Now, with much less hair, a more mellow tude, and a skilled mastery of the lower frequencies, Dirty Dave hits Florida with Sweet Spot. Armed with an arsenal of Carvin basses and GK/Hartke amplification, he remains true to his roots with influences that include Van Halen (which would explain the spandex and big hair), Aerosmith, that chick bass player from the Bangles (walk like an Egyptian..), Alice in Chains, Guns N’ Roses, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy, The Stones, Triumph, etc etc etc. As for other interests, Dave likes to keep his blood pressure in check by being an avid fan of the New England Patriots - who always manage to pull out the win by only three points! Words of wisdom: "I always wanted to be an outrage to public decency and a threat to women. Being in a band is the only legal occupation I could think of where I'm not only allowed that, but encouraged". |

So two drummers walk into a bar…which is actually kind of funny, because you would think that the second guy would have seen the first one do it. But seriously, this is one drummer that you can’t confuse with a piece of sheet music. Jeff started banging on the drums by the age of 10. After studying his craft for eight years under the guidance of two separate jazz/big band drum instructors, Jeff decided to apply his reading skills, stick control, timing, dynamics, etc, to his real passion….ROCK!! Utilizing the techniques he developed with his rock playing gives him that extra "edge", allowing him to think in a more unorthodox fashion. Playing mostly progressive rock with his brother Ron while growing up, they founded the popular New York based band “BUMBLEFOOT”. Jeff also played around the NY area (wait a minute…are you a Yankee’s fan?!) doing originals, covers, and studio session work. He has been reviewed in magazines such as Modern Drummer and DRUM! Some quotes from his reviews include "an endless supply of chops" - DRUM! Magazine, 2000, "a blend of blazing technique, creative musical ideas, and sense of groove" - Modern Drummer, 2000. If you want to check out an amazing, hard hitting drummer that tends to steal the spot light at any given moment, check out Jeff with Sweet Spot. |
